What are the requirements for electronic communication when applying for a licence?

One of the conditions you have to meet to obtain a licence is that you meet the requirements for electronic communication for nominations, entry and exit programs, the portfolio imbalance signal and balancing actions.

To meet these requirements, you need to gain access to the online Gasport and/or business to business services (B2B). Parties with a C licence are not required to implement the B2B service; It is mandatory for parties with an A or B licence. Click here if you want to know what these services entail. The B2B infrastructure has a higher guaranteed availability than Gasport, so we advise you to have access to B2B and to be able to communicate with B2B in addition to the Gasport screens. When a shipper is able to transport physical gas, this party should at least have the B2B product of our online information services at his disposal.

You should also be acquainted with the operational procedures of nominating, programs, balancing, imbalance and balancing actions.

All electronic communication is based on the Edigas protocol. For information about Edigas, we refer you to the Edigas Group website (www.edigas.org). You can exchange messages and communicate with us yourself. Your dispatch department does need to be reachable 24/7.

You could also opt to hire in a specialist company. Please let us know if you decide to do this. We need the name of the company and the contact person's details. The company will also have to take our communication test.

What are the steps in the process of electronic communication?

If you meet the set requirements, you can apply to take a communication test. This tests the connectivity and messages exchange. You have to pass the communication test.

  1. You provide the following information in your communication test:
  • Name, telephone number and e-mail address of your contact person for the test.
  • Name, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address of your dispatch department or the service company you hired in to do the dispatching for you.
  • An e-mail address for us to send the Message Processing Results e-mails (MPR e-mails) and TTF status reports.
  1. We will make an appointment with your contact person for the communication test.
  2. If you pass the communication test, we send you an e-mail.
