Additional advice Groningen production gas year 2021/22

Gasunie Transport Services (GTS) has an obligation to advise the Dutch government on how much gas will have to be extracted from the Groningen field for the security of supply. Our latest advise suggested to fill the storage Norg to its maximum volume, to use the storage Grijpskerk for storing H-gas in the coming winter and not to take irreversible decisions concerning the Groningen production clusters. The production of the Groningen field in that case would be 3,9 bcm if the temperature profile for remainder of the gas year is average.

Friday, 1 April, the state secretary decided to use the storage Grijpskerk as an L-gas storage and to allow Groningen production to fill storage Norg with 80% of its maximum volume. GTS provided the degree formula for this scenario. The calculation of the Groningen production includes the (temperature) realisations of this winter, and leads to a Groningenproduction of 4,5 bcm for the current gas year if the temperature profile for the remainder of the gas year is average.
