GTS acquires ZEBRA gas pipeline from distribution network operators
In 2021, the extra high-pressure networks in the south west of the Netherlands, including the ZEBRA gas pipeline, will become part of the GTS national grid. These networks are currently owned by two distribution network operators, Enexis Netbeheer and Enduris, and the ZEBRA Gasnetwerk company. The network operators jointly looked into the possibility of GTS taking over these networks. Their study showed that a transfer of the extra high-pressure networks is indeed feasible.
Operated by distribution network operators, extra high-pressure networks are gas transport networks with an extra high pressure of over 16 bar that are used to transport high-calorific gas. A transfer of these networks to the national grid can provide a boost for the Dutch gas market and the utilisation of the national grid. In relation to this acquisition, the pertinent advisory process with the Works Councils involved has now been set in motion. ZEBRA Gasnetwerk’s workforce is made up entirely of seconded Enexis Netbeheer and Enduris employees who can return to their actual employer.
