Information session: Vision on the Dutch gas market and Investment plan 2020
Save the date: 25 March 2020, 10:30 am - 3:00 pm
Vision on the Dutch gas market
The accelerated decrease in gas production from the Groningen field will impact the Netherlands and our neighbouring countries. For the Netherlands, this will lead to additional H-gas imports and lower exports; Germany, Belgium and France will switch from L gas to H gas.
After the realisation of the Zuidbroek nitrogen plant in mid-2022, no volume from the Groningen field is needed in normal winters. From that moment on, the Netherlands is dependent on sufficient H-gas imports for the G-gas market and for the H-gas market, since Dutch production, which is then limited to the small fields, is insufficient. Flexibility (seasonal and daily) in volume and capacity is also still necessary for both the G-gas and H-gas market.
During this session we will give our vision on the required import volumes and the necessary storage capacity and volume.
Investment plan 2020
The Gas Act requires that just like all network operators in the Netherlands, we periodically prepare an investment plan (IP). The IP presents a substantiated overview of investments in the short and long term.
Until now we have met our legal obligations through the Quality and Capacity Document (KCD / NOP). However, national legislation was adopted in 2018 laying down further rules for the IP. The most important change is the status of the document: previously the NOP / KCD was offered to EZK and ACM for information, but the IP will be offered for a formal review. Approval of the IP also means approval of the investments described.
GTS organizes two information sessions for market parties: the first information session about the process and the scenarios took place on 27 November 2019. The current information session is the second session in which we discuss the bottleneck analysis carried out and the necessary investments in our network. The IP 2020 will be consulted from 1 to 28 May 2020.
Information sessions
The session is intended for the regular representative organizations and our shippers. They can share their insights with us both orally during the session and in writing (during the consultation phase). In our final version of the IP we will take this input from the gas market into account.
The session will be organized on March 25, 2020 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm at the World Trade Center Schiphol. Lunch will be served during the session.
