Proposed adjustment of timing GTS balancing actions

On Friday, April 17, we organized a virtual information session together with ICE Endex (ICE). Shippers and traders from two representative organizations were present.

The subject was an issue identified by ICE with the pricing of GTS's balancing actions. Using examples, ICE has explained that many purchase and sales transactions are executed a few seconds before GTS carries out balancing actions and that this could jeopardize fair and orderly pricing. Traders can do this because we need to be transparent and predictable in the execution of our balancing actions, which now always take place exactly at hh:21.

The participants indicated that the observed trading behavior should be regarded as undesirable. ICE has proposed a solution whereby we vary the time of balancing actions between hh:21 and hh:22 hours. The proposed solution was embraced as a good step forward.

On May 8, 2020, another (Skype) session will be organized for traders in particular, but other stakeholders can also register. The presentations below are explained by GTS and ICE during the meeting.

You can register via [email protected].

Based on this, we will investigate how the intended solution can be built into our systems as efficiently as possible.
