Gasunie changes the names of Gasunie Waterstof Services and Gasunie Engineering

The investigation
The Dutch regulatory authority (Autoriteit Consument en Markt, ACM) has investigated the names and logos of entities within the Gasunie group. The results of the analysis indicate that Gasunie Waterstof Services (GWS) and Gasunie Engineering (GE) use names and logos that show many similarities with the name and logo of the transmission system operator Gasunie Transport Services (GTS).

The problem
According to ACM, these similar names and logos could lead to confusion in the market. Customers of GWS and GE could get the impression that they buy products or services from the TSO, whereas this is not the case. According to ACM this creates a problem, since this could lead to the situation where the TSO grants too many privileges to group entities compared to entities outside the Gasunie group. This is not allowed by the Dutch Gas law.

The solution
On behalf of Gasunie, GTS has provided a statement to ACM in which Gasunie commits itself to adjust the names and logos of GWS and GE to such an extent that they will be sufficiently different from the name and logo of GTS. As a result of this adjustment, possible confusion by customers will be prevented.

The timing
At this moment, new names and logos are being created for GWS and GE. The new names and logos will be implemented before 1 September 2020.
